Salts Techstep, a part of the Salts Healthcare Group, is an established leader in the manufacture of custom-made orthoses, with a proven reputation for quality, innovation and value for money. This bespoke service compliments our vast range of quality orthoses which we supply as the sole UK distributors of Schein.

We recognise that clinical accuracy and patient compliance is the key to effective orthotic management. Our full in-house design facility, together with the extensive knowledge of our highly skilled technicians, enables us to offer a custom-made orthotic service to assist practitioners in meeting their clients individual needs.

Salts is founded by John and William Salt, and is destined to become one of the oldest family run businesses in the UK.

The company passes to William Salt

The company passes to William Salt and is now manufacturing surgeons’ instruments and domestic cutlery.

Larger premises in East Birmingham.

Salts orthotics moves office

Salts orthotics moves to their current office in Lord Street, Birmingham. Salts Healthcare relocates to Richard Street.

‘Stepahead’ range of bespoke insoles is launched

The ‘Stepahead’ range of bespoke insoles is launched. The Hardinge Bridgeport milling machine is used for the direct milling of polypropylene, alongside CAD-CAM technology to produce a high quality product to any specification.

A ‘Pacer’ is introduced to the ‘Stepahead’ factory
