June 2009 saw the introduction of the new orthotic and support shoe range from Schein.

The new range boasts a large selection of colourful footwear. The shoes have been designed with the patient's wants in mind and are fashionable, fun and funky, making wearing an orthoses a lot more appealing to youngsters.

Orthopaedic specialists and organisations have recognised the therapeutic footwear from Schein for its excellent quality, functionality and fashionable designs.

The necessity for a child to wear an orthosis can be unpleasant for the patient and family alike and it is therefore important to make the process as pleasant as possible. For this purpose, Schein offers comfortable, modern orthotic shoes that are easily adapted to a specific patient's needs.

The shoes are available in three different widths and in split-sizes (if one foot is a different size to the other) to provide an optimal fit even when only one foot is being treated.

Due to many different construction characteristics, Schein support shoes can be used to treat a variety of foot and walking problems in children and adolescents.

The shoes have been successfully used for the following indications:

• Support of painful ankle joints (Arthritis)
• Support of joints with weak ligaments
